Since 1924, The Vincent Smith School has been the North Shore’s premier, private day school for students in grades 1-12 with learning difficulties like dyslexia or who are seeking small classes and individualized support for school reluctance or ADHD.
We provide differentiated instruction, onsite related services for reading, speech, and OT, a strong home/school connection, and college & career counseling in small, supportive classes with special ed. certified teachers. Approximately 85% of our HS graduates go on to college and have achieved successful careers in the arts, media, education, and entrepreneurship. We also offer a vocational and life-skills curriculum for non-college-bound students, supported by our newest extension program at the Vincent Smith General Store, 189 Main Street, Pt. Washington.
Our students learn HOW to learn, while developing essential social and academic skills in a NY State approved curriculum. Where appropriate, we offer in-house services for speech, reading, counseling, and occupational therapy.
