Name: A Hidden Child: A Memoir of the Holocaust with Leo Ullman
Date: March 24, 2024
Time: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Join us for a moving intergenerational event on Sunday, March 24th, at 3 p.m. at Landmark on Main Street, featuring local Holocaust survivor Leo Ullman as he shares his gripping story and discusses his illustrated memoir, "Leo, A Hidden Child in WWII." Accompanied by Port Washington artist Michelle Shain, who illustrated his memoir, Mr. Ullman will delve into his remarkable story. The memoir tells the tale of a young Jewish child who was separated from his parents and forced into hiding in Amsterdam during the Holocaust. Leo's parents, also in hiding, had no knowledge of his whereabouts or safety. After surviving and reuniting post-war, they arrived in Port Washington in 1947. Families are encouraged to attend, with a recommended age for 5th graders and older. Register for this free event at landmarkonmainstreet.org. The illustrated memoir will be available for pre-purchase with your registration. Co-sponsored by Port Washington Public Library, Landmark on Main Street, and the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library. This event is being presented as part of the Landmark's "Conversations From Main Street" series, generously sponsored by the Angela and Scott Jaggar Foundation.
